Tuesday morning, we awoke at 4:30 am to catch a taxi and then two trains to Athens. Spent a couple hours in Sygmata Square watching the changing of the guard, eating gyros, and watching people. Then got on the X95 bus to the Athens airport where we are now waiting for our evening flight to Rome.
Tomorrow (Wednesday), is our last day in this part of the world. Thursday morning, we leave early for the airport and then fly to JFK, where we spend the day and then catch an overnight flight to Ecuador, arriving at 6:15 a.m.
Looking forward to writing more of our experiences with the monk in Meteora. Was one of two highlights of Greece: (1) remembering the life and practices of Paul and the early church in Athens and (2) learning more about the theology and history of the Eastern Orthodox church. Two rich experiences that made our trip to Greece very worthwhile!
Don’t think we will have internet access in Rome the next two nights, so you may not hear from us until Friday or Saturday, after we arrive in Ecuador. We may use an internet cafe in Rome on Wednesday for a few minutes.
Blessings and love to all!
