After 36 hours of traveling, we arrived at Frank and Janelle's house in Riobamba! Very tired, but so thankful for a safe journey.
On our way to Guayaquil to Riobamba, we traveled through beautiful farmland filled with banana trees, sugar cane, cocoa trees, mango trees, and rice fields. We then began our climb into the mountains and into the cloud forests until we got above the clouds and above the tree line, about 12,000 feet with stunning beautiful views. Hope to show some photos later.
We passed five large trucks that had overturned, primarily because of going too fast around sharp corners and winding roads. One time, I thought sure a truck was going to overturn onto us when rounding a turn. So glad to be here!
It is 11:45 am Friday morning and Janelle and Frank are at work, but will be arriving soon. We will probably rest for a couple hours since we have had little sleep on airplanes and airports the last 36 hours, and then enjoy the weekend with Janelle and Frank.
Thanks for your prayers! It is good to be in Ecuador! Everytime I come, I am again stunned at its beauty.
